    另外，《鄭州晚報》因在微信官方號發布「天津市更換主要領導」的不實訊息，並以「新華社電」為文章開頭，稱原代理市委書記的市長黃興國不再代理，遭大陸國家網信辦處罰關閉一周。此外網信辦繼14日關閉360個涉及造謠的網路帳號後，15日再關閉了50個。

    天津爆炸案涉事企業瑞海公司的法人代表只峰是天津市前副市長只升華兒子的傳言，這2天傳得沸沸揚揚，15日上午，天津舉行爆炸事故第四場記者會上，官方首度澄清，兩人並無關係。天津市委宣傳部副部長龔建生強調，只升華只有一個女兒，只峰與他沒有任何關係。

      《人民日報》14日晚刊文列出11大謠言：如爆炸隔天傳出CNN記者現場連線遭公安阻止毆打，實則後來CNN在推特上澄清，發生衝突主因是該名記者與罹難者家屬在採訪上發生衝突。有謠言指爆炸後秩序失控，超商被搶，天津市公安局出面澄清並無此事；而天津空氣不佳，甚至會影響到北京，闢謠文章強調此與爆炸無關，且以北京、天津的相對位置來看，慣吹西風的天津並不會影響到北京。
